How much deposit do we need to pay to secure the booking?

The deposit of £50 is required to secure us for the date of your wedding and needs to be paid two weeks after your contract is issued to you. If you don’t pay the deposit within this time then your wedding date will become available again to other couples. The deposit can be paid either by BACS or through PayPal. Please ensure you use your surname as a reference when paying by BACS. Unfortunately Minerva Ensemble doesn’t accept cheques anymore.

When do we need to pay the final balance of our wedding?

The full balance, minus the deposit you will have already paid, must be paid 4 weeks before your wedding day. It is important this is adhered to ensure that all of our musicians are kept available for your wedding day. This can be paid by BACS or through PayPal. Please ensure you use your surname as a reference when paying by BACS. Unfortunately Minerva Ensemble doesn’t accept cheques anymore.

Can I pay the balance by instalments?

This is a common question we are asked. Because of the financial burden that getting married brings it’s nice to know you have paid for all of it in advance and so understand the desire to do this! After the deposit has been paid we allow you to pay in two further instalments. Unfortunately we can’t break it down further than this because of the high volume of weddings we are booked for it would make it impossible to keep up to date with who has paid what.

How many Musical Arrangements can I request that are not on the repertoire list already?

Minerva String Trio already have an extensive list of repertoire including 25 tracks which you can listen to on our website and the majority of couples find this list more than enough to help them decide which pieces of music to have on their wedding day. If there is a particular piece that you would like us to play at your wedding that isn’t on our list then we would be happy to arrange it for you but this request must be made at least 4 weeks before the date of your wedding to allow us enough time to arrange the music and we limit specially arranged music to two extra pieces per wedding. For each new arrangement we charge £50 to cover the time it takes us to arrange the new music.

Why do I have to sign a contract?

The contract we issue you is a legally binding contract and it should be carefully read through to make sure that all the details are correct. It must be returned with the deposit within two weeks of it being issued. If you don’t pay the deposit within this time then your wedding date will become available again to other couples.

Can we see Minerva Trio perform at Wedding Shows and Live Performances?

As an oboe and string trio we perform every year at the UK Wedding Show at Manchester Central and the Trafford Centre Wedding Show. This gives you a chance to hear us play live before your big day and ask us any questions in person you may have. In addition we also perform recitals at different venues across the North West and will keep couples who have contacted us up to date with any forthcoming performances and offer free entry to the Manchester Central Wedding Show on a first come first serve basis.

What should I consider when deciding on the music for our big day?

If you decide to book us for your wedding day then it is important to carefully consider your choice of music. If you make good musical choices for your wedding day then it can make your ceremony or reception an extremely memorable and special occasion. Please listen to our music repertoire on this website to get inspiration and ideas. We are constantly arranging music and adding it to the website. For the ceremony you should choose a piece to walk down the aisle to, three pieces during the signing of the register and a further piece for you to both exit to. For the drinks reception and wedding breakfast we wouldn’t expect you to choose this amount of music so we perform a mixture of popular and classical music. However if there are any particular pieces that you would like at the reception then you just need to let us know.

So why choose Minerva Ensemble oboe and string trio instead of a string quartet?

We can play all the music that a string quartet plays but the beautiful and unique sound of the oboe gives the trio a sound that will stand out more than a string quartet and give you and your guests a highly memorable experience of our music. We generally are very competitively priced too because there are only three musicians as opposed to four in a string quartet. Most string quartets will transform into a string trio if required but they miss out on the beautiful and unique sound of the oboe.

What is the difference between Minerva's Oboe and String Trio and a string quartet?

A string quartet is a popular choice at weddings and rightfully so as they can create a wonderful sound and ambience.

I only want you to play for the drinks reception. What if it finishes later than planned?

Minerva Ensemble offer unique packages so you don’t have to worry about your day over running. Often String Quartets will charge by the hour and charge more if things over run but Minerva Ensemble work in a way that means if you have booked us for the drinks reception we will be there for as long as it lasts!

How do we know when Minerva Ensemble will start and finish playing?

Although we don’t stop playing until the part of the day you have booked us for has finished we do take cues at different parts of the day to start and finish. These are as follows:

Ceremony

We start playing 15 minutes before the start time of your ceremony in the room you are getting married in to entertain guests as they wait for you to walk down the aisle. If you would like us to play for longer in a different area of the venue while guests arrive then please get in touch for a quote.

We finish once we have performed your chosen recessional music.

Drinks Reception

We start playing once the first guests arrive for the drinks reception.

We finish when the guests are called in for the wedding breakfast. If we are performing all day for your wedding (ceremony, drinks and wedding breakfast) we will take the refreshments you have organized for us 20 minutes before the end of the drinks reception so that we are ready to start again for the beginning of the wedding breakfast.

Wedding Breakfast

We start playing once you have entered the room as a couple and everyone has been seated again.

If your speeches are at the beginning of the meal instead of the end please let us know this prior to the day. In this case we will wait in another room while speeches are taking place and once they have finished we will return to the wedding breakfast room and begin playing.

We finish when dessert plates are cleared and coffee begins to be served.

Can you play for the hymns instead of the organist if we are having a church ceremony?

Yes we can but if we don’t have arranged the hymns you would like then we would need to charge our £30 arrangement fee per hymn. Please ask for our current list of hymns that we have already arranged.
